Trail Blazers Host Harvest Dinner to Serve Thousands of Portlanders in Need

2009 Harvest Dinner

While most of us have confirmed our Thanksgiving dinner plans with our family and friends, there are many people in our community who will not have a warm meal or place to be this coming holiday. The Trail Blazers and Providence Health and Services are teaming up this year to host the 15th Annual Harvest Dinner at the Rose Garden. The Harvest Dinner is a holiday-style meal that serves as many as 5,000 homeless or low income people in Portland. In addition to the dinner, guests are offered free services that include flu shots, haircuts, family photography and pet care.

This five hour event, is organized and executed through the volunteer efforts of the Trail Blazers staff, players, coaches, community partners, Ovations and Rose Quarter staff.  In addition to the Harvest Dinner, members of the Trail Blazers Make It Better employee volunteer team will visit the local Ronald McDonald houses and deliver meals to families.

The Harvest Dinner will be on the main course of the Rose Garden from 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 23. The dinner is available exclusively to clients of local organizations and agencies that serve homeless and/or critically low-income individuals and families.
