Unlimited Outlaw Quads

Unlimited Outlaw Quads

Motorcycle Ice Racing will be at the Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, December 19, 2009. The night will be comprised of two main divisions, the Manufacturer’s World Cup Bike Division and the Unlimited Outlaw Quads.  The event here is the last one on the West Coast for ICE Racing’s 34th Annual World Championship Ice Racing Series and we’ve got an inside look  at the racers for our friends and fans.

In the Manufacturer’s World Cup Bike Division, you may recognize some of the biggest names in motorcycle racing, including many well-known dirt track riders and X-Games competitors.  ”Jammin” Jared Mees, recently crowned Grand National Championship Dirt Track Champ; JR Schnabel, X-Games SuperMoto competitor; and previous Dirt Track Champ “Smokin” Joe Kopp (from Mica, Washington!!) will all be racing at ICE Racing’s stop in Portland.  We’ll also be seeing defending ICE World Champion, Kevin “The Viking” Anderson come to defend his title.  Other riders in this division from Oregon and Washington include Eric Beers from WA, Eric Rickman from OR, and Gresham’s own Kevin Conord.

In the Unlimited Outlaw Quads Division the top quad’s specialists to keep your eyes out for include 3-time and current reigning World Champ “Dangerous” Daniel Bergquist and 3-time World Champion Mandy “Wild Child” Brodil, who is just coming out of her retirement to compete again.  These two competitors have never faced each other on the ice, so it should result in interesting racing!  Some regional and local riders include Shane Donaca from Portland, OR; Lance Hallworth of Everett, WA; and Frank & Sydnee Felder from Monroe, WA.  As for the rules for the Quads racing?  There are only three – Dead man kill switch, rear wheel drive, and no wider than 50″ – so be ready to see some intense competition in this division.

Also, for the first time in ICE history, we’ll be seeing the Vertical Mischief Sport Bike Stunt Team perform extreme stunts on the ice.  Ryan Suchanek (have you seen the famous Dickie’s clothing commercial, posted below?) and Joey B have worked out the logistics and will be performing for the first time on ice during the ICE Racing tour, including the stop in Portland at the Memorial Coliseum.

Tickets are still available, at great prices, for Motorcycle Ice Racing here and there is also a $3 off coupon available at Dairy Queen!

Current Intern’s Testimonial about a Rose Quarter Internship:

My full time internship with the Rose Quarter has been a once in a lifetime experience.
